Safeguarding Our Students
At Epsom College Tokyo, safeguarding is central to everything we do. We are committed to creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where every child feels known, valued, and protected.
Through strong pastoral care, trusted relationships, clear routines, and close partnership with families, we ensure students are supported both academically and emotionally throughout their Prep School journey.
Safeguarding at Epsom College Tokyo is not only about protection, but about creating the conditions in which every child can thrive with confidence, wellbeing, and security.
What Safeguarding Means at Epsom?
Safeguarding is embedded into daily school life and reflects our wider commitment to student wellbeing and care. Every member of staff shares responsibility for creating an environment where children feel safe, listened to, and supported.
Our approach combines strong pastoral systems, age appropriate wellbeing education, clear communication, and attentive staff who know students well. Through this culture of care, students are encouraged to speak openly, build confidence, and develop positive relationships from an early age.
Safeguarding practices are regularly reviewed to ensure they reflect best practice and the evolving needs of students and families.
Designated Safeguarding Lead
The school has one Safeguarding Lead who oversees training, support, and guidance for staff, governors, volunteers, and visitors, and acts as the central point of contact for any child protection matters.
Our school is dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. We expect all staff, volunteers, students, and visitors to share and uphold this commitment. If a student does not feel safe, they cannot reach their full potential.
All staff are trained in child protection, and we ensure that no student is ever left alone in the boarding house. Only staff of the same gender are on duty with students, and their privacy, dignity, and emotional safety are always respected during the evening.
Our community is designed to foster a warm, caring environment that supports the wellbeing and emotional development of each student. We maintain a zero-tolerance policy towards bullying in all environments.
